Avicii - Wake Me Up Analysis

Lyrics The lyrics tend to be about finding yourself and along with the message of the video, it is about finding who you are and being happy in your own community. Lyrics such as "All this time I was finding myself" enforce this point. The target audience for Avicii tends to be teenagers, and there is a general census with teenagers that they are misunderstood and are told they are too young to know any better. The lyrics at the start of the song say "They say I'm too young to understand / They say I'm caught up in a dream". This can result in teenagers relating to the song because of the aforementioned reason. Music The music is suited to more dance and house kind of music. The structure of the music fits with what is going on in the video. For example, when the music is slow and the lyrics are being sung on top of a basic guitar and percussion track the video is also slow paced i.e. when they are walking down the street it is in slow motion as they loo...

History of the Song

The song we have chosen to use for our music video is the song Day N Nite by Kid Cudi. This is a song that is personal to Will and I as we enjoyed its release in 2009 up until today and also enjoy watching the very interesting and unique music video. Here is some of the information about the sing and artist. Artist:  Kid Cudi Album:  Man on the Moon: The End of Day Released:  2009 Genre:  Hip-hop/rap Nominations:  MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist This is a quote from Kid Cudi explaining to his audiecne why he wrote the song Day n Nite. ' My uncle that I lived with passed in 2006. We were actually beefing because he forced me out the house when I didn’t have another situation set up, so I was bitter. I never apologized for it, and that kills me. That’s why I wrote ‘Day ’N’ Nite.’' The track serves as Cudi’s justification for this “beef” with his deceased uncle, and the way he deals with the pain of their unresolved issues. The drugs help hi...

merchandise is sold very often along side albums and singles belonging to an artist or group. This allows the fans to purchase tshirts, bags and hats ect to wear and to give some money to the artist. Will and I have decided to create a simple tshirt that the fans can purchase for a small fee. The picture on the front is the album cover consisting of the song 'Day n Nite'. Will and I have chosen this image as it shows the most relevance to the song that we have chosen to do the music video for.

Intended Institution Analysis

This is a post that explains what intended institution we will want to have. This consists of the TV institution in which we would like the music video to be presented on. A lot has to be taken into account when choosing the TV station, this would consist of the kind of viewers that watch the stations. For example it would be a bad idea to have the music video shown on a classical music channel when the target audience for the video is between 16-30 aged people. also the viewers of that channel would most likely not like the video so therefore it would get bad reviews and a name. Will and i have chosen to use the TV channel 'VEVO' to present our video as this is a well known music channel and the majority of viewers of the channel are within our target audiences ages. this would be a very effective channel to use as it would most likely get out to the intended audience and also would act as a way of getting the video some popularity and feedback from the audience.

Evaluation 3

We have learnt from the audience feedback that the 'Day of the Dead' designs were a very effective way of getting the audiences attention as they found the designs to be very interesting and therefore were intrigued to see the video. We have discovered that the designs of the digipaks and the video are just as important as the content of the video as this can allow a whole new section within our target audience to gain interest, our audience has mostly come back with positive feedback towards the project and therefore they seem to be happy with the way the project is progressing.
