Evaluation marking

Level 1 0–7 marks • There is minimal skill in the use of digital technology or ICT in the evaluation. • There is minimal understanding of the forms and conventions used in the productions. • There is minimal understanding of the role and use of new media in various stages of the production. • There is minimal understanding of the combination of main product and ancillary texts. • There is minimal understanding of the significance of audience feedback. • There is minimal skill in choice of form in which to present the evaluation. • There is minimal ability to communicate. I'm a bit confused as you're talking about a pop video but is alcoholism really a theme for a pop video? I felt that the song was quite downbeat. You've described your own video but not given examples of real videos that back up your points. In evaluation 2 you've described your video but you were supposed to be explaining how effective the combination of your video and ancillary are! Again you...

Evaluation 2

Our main product that we have created is different to the ancillary texts that we have created in a variety of ways. The reason that they do not have such a strong link between the product and the texts and designs is that we felt that the designs should be more artistic to catch the attention of the target audience as this is just as important as an effective video. Will and I felt that it showed to be very challenging to include the 'Day of the Dead' designs into the video and also may turn the video to focus too much on the art and away from the original purpose of the music video. Therefore, we decided to do a theme that relates to the vast majority of our target audience could relate to, which is the theme of loneliness and depression. We did this by only having one actor in the whole video to highlight his isolation from the rest of the world. The two storylines in our video show how he copes with his loneliness, one being driving and wandering aimlessly around a town, th...

We used several technologies in the making of our project this is the software and hardware that we had to use in order to create the project to a high standard. We used this in the construction, research and planning and evaluation. Research  Will and I clearly use the hardware and software belonging to the standard computer in order to research the song and artist that we have chosen to recreate the music video 'Day and Nite' about. This played a huge roll in order to help plan, create and execute the filming of the project and helped us keep track along the route of the creation of the project. YouTube helped us to research different genres of music videos, we explored the many codes and conventions that came with each genre e.g. rock music was accompanied by a performance rather than a narrative, and it was fast paced and very energetic in its filming and editing. We decided to settle on a hip-hop genre, as it was more simple to do given our very low budget. Survey ...

Evaluation 3

There is currently no feedback on our music video as well as the digipak and the website. The only communication we have with our audience is from a survey about music videos in general. We learnt that our main audience were teenagers that mostly all agreed that music videos made songs much better. This is good news for us, as we have picked a genre of song (hip-hop/rap) that generally appeals to a younger target audience Results also show that they thin the main purpose of a music video is to entertain, as a result, we have attempted to make the music video as entertaining as possible. We did this through trying to make it aesthetic as well as relatable. The survey also shows that people think aesthetics is also very important, therefore we tried to focus on some interesting shots in our music video to try and match what people think.  Results also indicate that our audience tend to enjoy both music videos with narrative and performance at the same time. As a...

Our final piece uses forms of codes and conventions within its genre of music videos. the genre is pop and therefore is often shown in a number of ways so that the audiences can clarify what genre it is. In pop genres the music videos are usually very vibrant and fun for the audience to enjoy. We have chosen to adapt our music video to this convention by including lots of neon and bright signs and objects. we have also done this to relate the music video to the original video in which Kid Cudi uses animation to get bright colours and splashes of colour on the screen. The is a common thing within the pop genre. we interpreted this by including the shots of the neon signs in the setting along with the cars passing by and the arcade machines . This allows the setting to be shown for the audience along with the convention of the lights. The general feel for music videos that are aimed at the target audience is that partying is shown to be a big part for them. The reason for this ...
